PrepWithAI ("we", "our", or "the app") is an AI-powered interview and placement preparation application for engineering students. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights over your data.
By using PrepWithAI, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
When you create an account, you provide your full name, email address, and a password. We use this to create and identify your PrepWithAI profile. Your password is never stored in plain text — authentication is handled securely by Firebase Authentication, which stores only a one-way hash.
During onboarding you provide your college name, branch, and year of study. This is used to personalise your experience.
We store your interview session history, scores, aptitude test results, daily practice streaks, XP points, and achievements so you can track your progress over time.
When you answer interview questions, your spoken answer is transcribed to text using your device's speech recognition. This text is sent to our AI service (Groq) for evaluation. We do not record or store raw audio.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
- Your phone number or physical address
- Your location or GPS data
- Your contacts or call logs
- Payment card details (handled entirely by Razorpay)
- Any data while the app is not in use
3. How We Use Your Information
- To create and maintain your account
- To generate personalised AI interview questions and feedback
- To display your progress, scores, streak, and achievements
- To improve app performance and fix issues
- To send you important updates about the app (no marketing spam)
4. Third-Party Services
PrepWithAI uses the following third-party services:
We use Firebase Authentication to manage sign-in and Firebase
Firestore to store your profile and practice data securely. Data is
stored in Google's cloud infrastructure.

Your interview answers and aptitude prompts are sent to Groq's AI
service for evaluation. This is done via a secure server-side proxy —
your data is not directly exposed to Groq from the device. Groq
processes the text to generate feedback and scores.

Pro subscription payments are processed securely by Razorpay. When you
make a payment, your card or UPI details are entered directly into
Razorpay's secure checkout — we never receive or store your payment
card information. Razorpay shares only the payment status and a
transaction ID with us for activation.

5. Data Retention
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (see below), all your personal data is permanently erased from our servers within 24 hours.
6. Your Rights — Data Deletion
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time:
- Open the PrepWithAI app
- Go to Profile → Delete Account
- Type DELETE to confirm
This permanently deletes your profile, all session history, scores, and achievements from our database. This action cannot be undone.

7. Children's Privacy
PrepWithAI is intended for college students (18 years and above). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Firebase Firestore enforces authentication-based access rules — your data can only be read by your own account. API keys are never embedded in the app; they are stored server-side on Vercel.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
